The Club's two very individual courses cover an area of over 380 acres. Each course has its own putting green and there are extensive practice facilities covering over 30 acres.
The Club has a very active and diverse membership. Just sign up and join in; you will be warmly welcomed.
Great Competitive Golf
The Gogs is a friendly, traditional club with opportunities for competitive play for everybody.
Competitions take place every Wednesday and Saturday. Men’s and Ladies' competitions played on the same day are held on different courses, one being reserved for men on a Saturday morning and one for the ladies on a Wednesday morning. On both days there is an alternative competition on the other course. The two courses bring variety and contrast to the competitions.
There are formal and informal club matches at all levels and a range of seasonal knock outs and leagues in the summer and winter.
Great Social Golf
There is a very healthy social golf scene. You’ll find several ‘roll-up’ sessions during the week and new members' events.
The format of play on the courses alternates daily. One course has unrestricted play and the other is restricted to two or three ball. Consequently rounds of golf at the Gogs are usually speedy and with little delay, nearly always less than four hours.
Both courses, The Old and The Wandlebury, boast some of the best views in Cambridge, so come and experience them and their golfing challenges.
Readily Available Golf
It is very easy to get a tee time and golfers rarely have to wait on days when there are no tee reservations. If a visiting society has booked a day’s golf or there is a competition booked to play on one course, members can always play on the other course.
The courses roam over free-draining chalk hills. The porous sub-soil means play can take place virtually all year round. The courses do not suffer from water-logging and so, except in snow, golf can be played in good conditions all year round.
The practice facilities are second to none: a fully equipped driving range, chipping and bunker practice areas and separate practice putting greens that reflect the types of greens found on the two courses.
The Club Professional, Simon "Harry" Harrison, and his team of expert assistants, which includes a lady professional, provide a great service in the Pro Shop.
They offer sound advice, quality equipment and apparel, and a range of lessons and tuition using the latest technology.
